In late May, New York guitar brand D’Angelico released the first signature model in its solid-body collection for Grateful Dead frontman Bob Weir. The instrument is both polished and surprising — the guitar brand is known for semi-hollowbody jazz guitars — and includes an unconventional set of pickups.
The Deluxe Bob Weir Bedford guitar has two stacked Seymour Duncan P-90 pickups with a Lollar Blonde single-coil in between them. You can switch between all pickups with a standard 5-way blade selector or blend in the ‘odd-man-out’ with a blender pot. Weir designed the guitar’s unique electronics to keep himself interested and surprised after months on tour.
The offset guitar has a basswood body, maple and walnut C-shape set-through neck and a Pau Ferro 22-fret fingerboard with mother of pearl and abalone inlays. It includes Grover locking tuners, a 6-point Wilkinson tremolo bridge and a Tusq nut.
Normally $1,999, you can save $200 on this guitar today at Guitar Center with the code 10off. If you’re looking for a unique guitar to add nuanced tones to your playing, this is certainly worth checking out.
