When Shinola released its first-ever headphones, the Canfield Over-Ear Headphones, in 2017, they were priced at a hefty $595. Since then, Shinola has gotten out of the headphone market and the only way to find its headphones is through third-party sites – and right now you can get them for pretty cheap. For instance, on Nordstrom Rack they are selling for just $85. That’s a hell of a discount.
The price was always Shinola’s Achilles heel. When my Gear Patrol colleague reviewed the Canfield Over-Ear Headphones back in 2017, he commented: “The design and build are as handsome and robust as you’d expect from Shinola, but be ready to pay for the brand.”
Additionally, TechCrunch‘s Matt Burns wrote: “The Shinola Canfields are the Shinola watches of headphones. They feel great, come from Detroit and are overpriced.”
However, the price really isn’t an issue right now – for those that act fast. At just $85, these wired over-ear headphones are a pretty stellar deal for anybody in the market for some solid-sounding headphones that very few people have.
