Rolex’s New Entry-Level Watches Feel Like Instant Future Classics

I can’t stop thinking about how good these new matte lacquer dial watches look.

2025 will forever be remembered as the year of the Land-Dweller in the annals of watch history. And for good reason. It’s not every day that the Crown of all brands introduces its most significant new model in a generation.

But after taking some time to fully digest the company’s full slate of 2025 releases, which included everything from a new GMT-Master II unlike any other Rolex has made to a striking new Cosmograph Daytona with a gorgeous turquoise blue lacquer dial, I’d argue that a humble pair of new Oyster Perpetual releases rank right behind the Land-Dweller as the brand’s most compelling launches this year.

I loved the way the new Beige dialed Rolex Oyster Perpetual looked on my wrist, especially in 36 mm.

From Saturated to Sophisticated

Two fresh new matte lacquer dial colors are the main story here. Both constitute a significant departure from the bright and saturated shades that started defining the OP lineup at the turn of the decade.

Like many of the best Oyster Perpetual releases of yore, a muted yellowish shade dubbed “beige” and a complimentary green called “pistachio” thread the needle between fun and fancy.

Yet they’re much more in tune with the vibes and tastes of the present.

Both shades are muted enough to wear with nearly anything but also distinctive, precisely the balance Rolex’s most affordable daily driver should aspire to.

The aesthetic shift feels especially stark (and welcomed) compared to previous statement Oyster Perpetual releases like the controversial “Celebration Dial” launched just two years ago, which is already discontinued.

Tinkering with Scale

The new beige and pistachio dial colors are technically available in every current Oyster Perpetual size, including 28 mm, 31 mm, 34 mm, 36 mm, and 41 mm.

The four smallest iterations remain unchanged beyond these new dial color offerings and one other more feminine lavender shade.

However, as Ripley Sellers of A Blog to Watch keenly notes, the largest 41 mm version of the Oyster Perpetual was also quietly revised with a completely new reference number (ref. 134300), making it the most interesting version for collectors with big enough wrists.

As is often tradition with Rolex’s core models, every change to the new Oyster Perpetual 41 is iterative and focused, so the tweaks are nearly impossible for casual observers to spot.

It is functionally identical to the previous OP 41 and includes details like a sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown, a solid case back, and 100 meters of water resistance.

The watch is also still available only in stainless steel, paired with a smooth bezel and the default Oyster bracelet.

Yet, based on measurement comparisons, the new model’s Oyster case is also slightly larger. Eagle-eyed spotters in the r/rolex Reddit community have also noticed that the lugs may be slightly shorter and paired with a slightly larger crown. The bracelet clasp also appears more slender.

The result is a new take on the largest OP that seems to scale in slightly better proportion to its smaller siblings in a few minor ways.

Pricing and Availability

Prices for the three new Rolex Oyster Perpetual dial colors introduced in 2025 are the same and only vary based on watch size.

Rolex is offering the smallest 28 mm version for $5,650, the 38 mm for $5,800, the 34 mm for $5,900, the 36 mm for $6,200, and finally, the 41 mm for $6,500, which, by design, means they each qualify as the most affordable new watches Rolex sells.
