Bremont’s Supersonic Watches are Inspired by an Icon of Flight

Bremont’s newest offering is a tribute to the famed Concorde aircraft, and actually incorporates a piece of a Concorde in each watch.

British watch manufacturer Bremont has a strong association with flight — co-founders Nick and Giles English famously founded the brand after their father Euan was killed in a flying accident in a WWII Harvard plane. Determined to honor their father and their shared love of the skies, the brothers began Bremont in 2002 and craft mechanical timepieces often inspired by particular aircraft.

Bremont’s newest creation is the Supersonic, released in time to honor the 50th anniversary of the Concorde, which flew over 2.5 million British Airways passengers at over twice the speed of sound. The eighth in Bremont’s historical limited edition series, each Supersonic actually incorporates a piece of a G-BOAB Concorde known as “Alpha Bravo,” the third Concorde to become part of the British Airways fleet. These aluminum pieces have been machined into decorated rings that fit beneath the transparent case back crystal and incorporate a description of Alpha Bravo’s main attributes, including number and registration, number of supersonic flights, top speed and more.

The watch itself features Bremont’s first-ever manual-wind movement with 8-day power reserve, a sunburst white dial reminiscent of the Concorde’s reflective paint, sword hands, power reserve indicator, sub-seconds dial, date window at 6 o’clock and the brand’s signature 43mm Trip-Tich case with 22mm lug width. The Supersonic is water-resistant to 100 meters and ships on a leather strap in Corcorde blue, blue crocodile, or brown alligator.

The watch will be limited to 300 steel ($12,180), 100 white gold ($23,097) and 100 rose gold ($21,813) pieces, and part of the proceeds from the watches will be donated to Air League Trust, which works with British Airways and their Inspire program that enables young people to learn how to fly.
