Ares is a watch company founded by Matt Graham, a guy with some serious badass creds — a former police officer and U.S. Air Marshal, Graham spent 12 years working with the CIA. When Graham finished his service, he decided to design a wristwatch that would be able to weather the types of activities he spent his career taking part in, and the Ares Diver-1 was born.
The DIVER 1 features a 41mm stainless steel case with screw-down case back, a screw-down crown at 10 o’clock, a Ronda 715Li quartz movement with 10-year battery life, SuperLuminova-coated hands and dial and a flat sapphire crystal with inner AR coating. It’s also water-resistant to 300m, makes use of a 120-click unidirectional countdown bezel and ships with 3-ring and 5-ring LASH nylon straps. Oh, and it’s anti-magnetic rating 18.8Oe, shock-resistant to NIHS-91-10 standards, and thermo-compensated -0 to 50+ C. Tested for over 20,000 hours around the world in grueling conditions, this is a true “tool watch” in every sense of the term.
Ares has partnered with famed knife maker SOG on a special edition of the Ares DIVER 1, available in a limited edition of individually numbered pieces (out of 50) with a blacked out case and bezel. Each watch is assembled and serviced in Seattle, is guaranteed for life, and sells for $695.
