Panerai’s 42mm Dive Watch Now Has a Military Green Dial and In-House Movement

With a green dial to recall the brand’s military history, the newest version of the smash-hit Panerai Submersible 42mm is more affordable than the original.

When Panerai released a scaled down version of its dive watch in a 42mm-wide case, many watch fans were excited for a more wearable Submersible, and the collection’s expansion with more variations and colors is further welcome news. A new entry in the collection, descriptively named the Verde Militare (PAM1055), features a military green dial and matching rubber strap and is available exclusively online.

Panerai collectors and enthusiasts (“Paneristi”) often get excited about even the smallest differences, but there’s more to this version than a new dial color. In steel, it shares the same dimensions and some other specs of the existing Submersible 42mm, like 300m of water-resistance, but it also includes the brand’s new P.900 in-house movement. This movement, which has automatic winding and a power reserve of about three days, is designed for more entry-level watches, and the Verde Militare even costs a bit less than the original Submersible 42mm.

Available online from Panerai and limited to 500 pieces, the Submersible Verde Militare 42mm PAM01055 has a price of $8,700 each.
