Bremont’s newest addition to the Terra Nova collection is about as far from a field watch as you can get.

A glittery stone dial and sparkling case finish make it completely impractical for use in the field, but absolutely stunning to look at. It’s one of the British watchmaker’s most unique creations and a true conversation starter on the wrist.

Bremont’s Terra Nova Jumping Hour Aventurine takes one of the year’s most notable watch trends in a striking direction. It has a jumping hour movement displayed through a guichet-style dial made of aventurine glass.

It is a glammed-up version of the steel Terra Nova 40.5 Jumping Hour, introduced in April alongside the limited-edition Bronze version, which recently received a toned-down regular production update.

Twinkle, little stars

As the name suggests, the dial is made from aventurine, but not the natural quartzite. It is a dark blue glass filled with flecks of copper, mimicking the structure of natural aventurine, but with a clarity and distribution impossible to find in nature.

It creates the illusion of gazing at a cloudless night sky with an infinite number of stars in view.

Aside from the captivating glass, the dial is the same design as the Terra Nova 40.5 Jumping Hour. The hours and minutes are displayed through curved apertures placed side by side at nine o’clock.

White numerals indicate the larger jumping hours and smaller crawling hours on glossy black wheels, visible through polished metallic frames. Seconds are prominently indicated by a large, white, leaf-shaped hand at the center of the dial, pointing to a printed railroad seconds track.

Bremont’s nautical star logo is printed at twelve o’clock, and “Terra Nova/Jumping Hour/London” is printed at three o’clock. Only the hour numerals, the seconds hand and the triangles placed at the cardinal positions on the seconds track are coated with green-glowing Super-LumiNova.

Adding to the allure of the aventurine glass dial is a “frosted” finish on the steel case, which creates a glittering appearance as if it were encrusted with countless tiny rhinestones. The finish only covers the top portion of the case, with the sides and back getting a mirror polish.

Might as well jump

Ticking away inside the glimmering case is Bremont’s automatic jumping hours movement, developed and produced by Sellita exclusively for the British watchmaker, which debuted earlier this year in previous Terra Nova references.

The caliber BC634 is a high-torque automatic movement that allows the hour to change in under one-tenth of a second. The big seconds hand has a smooth sweep, thanks to the 4Hz beat rate. It also offers a 56-hour power reserve.

The Jumping Hour Aventurine elevates Bremont’s Terra Nova collection — which translates to “new land” in Latin — into the starry expanses of space and well beyond traditional field watch bounds. It is a brilliant use of the brand’s exclusive jumping hours movement, giving it the more elevated platform it deserves.

Despite all the sparkle, this is still a watch made of steel and glass with a leather strap. This is the closest thing to a luxury dress watch that Bremont currently offers, while still maintaining a connection to the brand’s tool watch roots.

Availability and price

Bremont’s dazzling Terra Nova Jumping Hour Aventurine is available for pre-order now from Bremont for $10,300. The aventurine glass dial and intense case finishing come at almost two and a half times the price of the standard steel model.

This captivating jumping hours watch is a limited edition of 50 pieces, each numbered on the caseback.
