Considering its iconic status in the watch world, Casio actually didn’t make a fully mechanical wristwatch until last year. Previous models had always been quartz-powered, but the debut of the EFK-100 in 2025, under the Edifice sub-brand, marked a significant new direction for the Japanese brand.

This was quickly followed by the 2nd-gen version, the EFK-110, which updated the movement, decreased the case size and revised the dial design.

Still the only line of automatic watches, the EFK collection is getting yet another new evolution, but with a twist.

Best Edifice ever?

Not a ton of info has been disclosed as of yet but Casio is readying the EFK-200 for later this summer. From the looks already, we can tell it’s decidedly sportier with a wider, more angular bezel that gives the watch a quasi-cushion aesthetic. This is arguably the best-looking Edifice we’ve seen so far.

The dial itself is largely the same but got cleaned up a bit. The smaller indices between the seconds on the chapter ring have been removed, while the grooved outer dial ring has been taken out completely.

Hour markers are slightly more angular and the minute and hour hands are no longer skeletonized. However, the date window appears to be unchanged. Like the EFK-110, the 200 is powered by the Miyota 8215 automatic, visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. You get 42 hours of power reserve.

A high-profile collab

Earlier this year, Casio announced a partnership with Toyota that is now coming to fruition via the new EFK-200 range. Shown here, the EFK-200XPB-1A is a serious stunner.

Housed in an all-black forged carbon fiber case, the watch extends the material to the dial surface itself, where it gets accented with rose gold markers and hands.

The bracelet design is very similar from the 110, except the links are a bit rounder. The Toyota version of the 200 gets blacked out to match the case and dial.

The EFK-200XPB-1A is just one of several EFK-200 models debuting this summer. Reports of four others have come in, including steel-cased references with red, blue and black dial options, each with a paint smear texture. There’s also a gold-toned variant with a gradient golden-brown dial.

Case dimensions sit at 38mm across with a 11.9mm thickness. Water resistance will be unchanged at 100m.

Availability and pricing

Pricing and availability are still under wraps but you can expect the EFK-200 to cost upwards of $300 when it launches in the coming weeks.
