Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably noticed that small watches are all the rage right now, especially when it comes to dressier timepieces. Timex is no exception, with the brand’s beloved Q series averaging at about 38 millimeters per watch.

But what if you could go even smaller? Well, you might be interested in the series’s tiniest offering, which just got its best-looking edition yet: the Q Timex Ice Blue. And yes, before we even get into it, it’s also highly affordable.

Tiffany Q

The two previously released editions of the Q Timex Mini were both gold, one with a pink dial and the other with a cream dial. While they were both lookers, not everyone is a fan of gold watches, so that kind of pigeonholes what is already a somewhat pigeonhole watch (because of its size).

This new version opens it up to a whole new audience by simply swapping the case’s color palette for another classic: stainless steel. That also extends to the watch’s integrated bracelet, which is a nice vintage-inspired touch, as well.

For the record, the color on the dial and bezel is called Ice Blue.

However, the most eye-catching element of this watch is undoubtedly the color of its dial and matching bezel. While reminiscent of Tiffany Blue — a classic color that has graced everything from Rolex watches to Nike sneakers — this is a legally distinct hue Timex has dubbed Ice Blue.

Regardless of where you place it on the color spectrum, this stainless steel and Ice Blue combo certainly gives this tiny watch a much-needed refresh, and one that’s perfectly timed (pun intended) for spring. Yet, that’s not all of its idiosyncrasies.

Deceptive elements

Because of this watch’s size and vibe, there are some elements on it that, personally, could be called deceiving. That’s not to say that they’re bad, but they should be pointed out.

Let’s start with that bezel. Despite its appearance, this is not a dive timer bezel, nor does it rotate in any way. In fact, it is completely fixed to the case. This is because it is designed to feature the watch’s Arabic numerals, which have been put on the bezel to avoid overcrowding the already small dial.

This allows the dial to remain clean and relatively minimalist without sacrificing anyone’s ability to read it quickly and accurately.

The bracelet is similarly deceptive. You may notice it has no clasp. This is because it is what the brand calls its “Perfect Fit expansion band,” meaning it stretches to accommodate your hand when putting it on or taking it off. But don’t fret: the brand has a guide to adjusting the fit.

The watch also has a reliable quartz movement, an acrylic crystal that’s impact-resistant and easy to polish and it’s good for depths of up to 50 meters.

The size, style and color give this watch a delicate nature, yet it is still tough enough for daily wear.
