Fiio has been on a tear as of late.

In just the last three months, the company has introduced an all-in-one desktop amplifier, an integrated amplifier for traditional hi-fi setups and a pair of wireless noise-canceling headphones that cost just $50.

Now, the brand known for its (relatively) affordable hi-fi gear is going in a slightly different direction … by releasing its first-ever gaming headset.

Its first-ever gaming headset

The selling point of the Fiio’s FG3 is pretty straightforward. It combines the brand’s hi-fi expertise and sound quality at a super affordable price.

Plus, the headset is compatible with all major consoles, including the PlayStation 5, both Xbox Series and the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the latest Windows PCs and smartphones.

Fiio claims the FG3 has been developed to deliver accurate positional audio and clear voice communication across PCs and consoles.

The headset is built around a coaxial driver arrangement comprising a 50mm dynamic driver for low and midrange frequencies and a 16mm dynamic driver for high frequencies.

The company says this driver arrangement extends the frequency response of the FG3 from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, while also “improving detail retrieval across the audio spectrum.”

High performance hi-fi

Fiio integrated the FG3 with a high-performance dual-core DSP chip to ensure the headset can handle complex audio with low latency and rapid response time.

Additionally, the headset has a built-in headphone amplifier that delivers up to 80mW of output power. And a high-resolution DAC allows it to play audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

Fiio claims this allows the FG3 to reproduce everything “from subtle environmental sounds and teammate voices through to large-scale cinematic effects with clarity and precision.”

The FG3 headset has a foldable and lightweight design, so that it’s both comfortable and easy to travel with. It comes with breathable woven mesh ear pads and memory foam cushions.

There are inline controls located on the cable, making it easy to adjust the volume, mute the mic and switch between audio modes without interrupting gameplay.

Notably, the headphones aren’t wireless and don’t support Bluetooth audio, which helps keep the price down.
