Earlier this month, Yamaha officially released the RX300A, a new entry-level AV receiver designed to serve as the hub of an affordable surround-sound system. It’s aimed at people who want to take “the next step up” from a standard soundbar or stereo system without breaking the bank. It costs $400.
Now, the Japanese hi-fi brand is building on that by releasing an entry-level surround sound system with the RX300A at its center. Basically, it removes the complexity of choosing the right speakers, so purchasing the complete system is as simple as ever.

“Just add TV”
The Yamaha YHT-4970U is what the industry calls a “home theater in a box,” which is essentially a “just add TV” home theater starter kit. It comprises all the necessary speakers, speaker wires, cables and an AV receiver so that it’s ready right out of the box.
Specifically, the Yamaha YHT-4970U is a complete 5.1-channel surround sound system with five speakers and a subwoofer. The five speakers feature one center channel and four sides (for front-left, front-right, rear-left and rear-right).
