Anyone who has owned a mechanical watch is familiar with the tactile joy of cranking up the movement. Feeling the gears wind as the crown turns and hearing the delicate clicking is better than any fidget toy.
The problem is that, unlike fidget toys, a movement can only be wound so much at a time. Overdoing it can damage the movement, and knowing how much and when to wind up is something of a guessing game if your watch doesn’t have a power reserve meter.
Fortunately, Hamilton introduced a power reserve complication to the hand-wound version of the Khaki Field watch in 2025. A semi-circular sub-dial just inside of 9:00 indicates how much juice is left in the Caliber H-23 movement.
Now, anyone who owns this variation of the fundamental military field watch knows exactly when the movement needs to be topped off, and when to stop turning the crown.
The helpful complication is placed in a 40mm variation of the Khaki Field Mechanical with a bead-blasted stainless steel case. It debuted with the collection’s foundational black and white dial motifs.
The Khaki Field Power Reserve line is now doubled in size with the addition of blue and green dial options. The particular shades of blue and green are carried over from the Khaki Field Quartz update from 2025.
