Hoka has never been particularly shy about color, often opting for vibrant hues that underscore its maximalist approach to running shoes.

So you’d be forgiven for not immediately clocking the brand’s latest release as an old-school classic.

The upcoming Bondi 7 Beams revisits an older generation of the brand’s go-to max-cushioned trainer, reimagining it through Beams’s minimalist lens.

Here, that means two new colorways “reminiscent of carefully composed rock gardens and weathered temple timbers,” the brands say.

In practical terms, the release is divided into two variants — one white, the other brown — each outfitted in a subtle camo patterns designed to channel the “visual harmony of Japanese Zen gardens,” Hoka and Beams add.

Notably, the effect carries over from the upper to the midsole, blending technical attributes like the shoe’s TPU overlays and reflective laces into one harmonious package.
