Not all watch brand sponsorships are perfect fits. But when Breitling became the official luxury watch partner of the Ironman triathlon in 2021, I just nodded my head.

“Yep. That makes sense.”

Four years on, Breitling continues to celebrate its partnership with one of the world’s most grueling athletic events with a new limited-edition chronograph that takes what is already one of the toughest watches in the business and makes it even more durable.

I am Ironman

Breitling’s new Ironman watch is the — deep breath — Professional Endurance Pro Ironman World Championship 2025. Mouthful of a name aside, this is effectively a ruggedized version of Breitling’s already formidable Endurance Pro chronograph, with a couple of extra touches aimed at Ironman athletes.

Powering the watch, as always, is Breitling’s Cal. 82 quartz chronograph movement. Now, before you roll your eyes, you must realize this is no ordinary quartz movement.

Dubbed a “SuperQuartz” calibre by Breitling, Cal. 82 is a COSC-certified chronometer accurate to within 10 seconds per year and is thermocompensated to preserve accuracy against temperature fluctuations. Add in the fact that the lack of many moving parts in a quartz movement naturally makes it more shock-absorbent than a mechanical one, and it becomes clear that quartz is simply a better choice for a demanding event like an Ironman triathlon.

Like other watches in the Endurance Pro line, the watch boasts a couple of features that could potentially come in handy for triathletes. One is the external bezel, which features a compass scale for orienting your direction using the sun. The other is an inner pulsometer scale on the dial, which is used to measure one’s heart rate — a key metric for endurance athletes in training — in conjunction with the chronograph.

So far, these features can all be found on your standard Endurance Pro. So here’s where the Ironman limited edition sets itself apart.

Normally, the Endurance Pro features a case made of Breitlight: a proprietary, lightweight, scratch-resistant, polymer-based material. It’s well-suited for a sports watch, honestly, but since it’s effectively fancy plastic, it’s never going to feel quite at home on a luxury watch.

The bezel has compass markings (N, E, S, W) and a pulsometer scale. The watch has a blue rubber strap and a blue crown with the Breitling logo.
The Endurance Pro’s usual Breitlight polymer case has been upgraded to a more robust titanium.

This new Endurance Pro swaps out the Breitlight case for one made of titanium. Not only does the metal provide a bit more heft and a more premium feel, but it’s also stronger and more durable. To top things off, Breitling gave the watch a color scheme inspired by the Ironman World Championship logo, utilizing light blue, teal and orange throughout the watch, while the logo itself appears on the 6:00 subdial.

In addition to the titanium watch, Breitling has also launched a second Endurance Pro Ironman for 2025. This version, which is also a limited edition, was made for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, which is half the length of the Ironman World Championship. As such, the watch doesn’t get quite as hardcore of a revamp — it still has a Breitlight case rather than titanium — but I actually prefer the color scheme of this one, as it pairs a gradient teal dial with a teal rubber strap to mimic the logo of the 70.3 World Championship. It’s quite nice-looking.

Pricing and Availability

As I already mentioned, both Ironman versions of the Endurance Pro are limited editions. The titanium version, while more expensive, is also more plentiful, surprisingly. Priced at $4,150, it’s limited to 500 pieces. The Breitlight style, meanwhile, is limited to just 300 pieces but is more affordable at $3,750.

Both watches are available now from Breitling and can be purchased directly from the brand’s website. It’s also worth noting that Breitling’s CEO estimates that the brand has enough overall stock in the U.S. to avoid tariff price increases on its watches until probably September, so as long as you pick one of these up in the next couple of weeks, you probably won’t be hit with any surprise extra fees.
