This Esteemed British Hi-Fi Brand’s Beloved Audio Gear Has Never Looked Quite This Good

Cambridge Audio teamed up with fellow London-based brand Maharishi to give a military-inspired makeover to a turntable and earbuds.

Cambridge Audio is beloved for its dedication to hi-fi audio juxtaposed against its products’ relative affordability and approachability.

Hear me out: there’s nothing wrong with what the British brand’s audio gear looks like. Most of what it offers is pretty sleek and minimalist.

That said, the brand’s latest collab — the Cambridge Audio x Maharishi Collection — could be its best-looking tech ever. Yet, it’s still relatively affordable, too.

Sounds great; looks great, too

The collection comes in two parts — one for home and one for travel. The former comes in the form of the 7614 Maharishi Cambridge Audio Alva ST Belt Drive Turntable.

This hi-fi vinyl player includes built-in Bluetooth aptX HD and phono stage, an advanced tonearm with detachable headshell, and a vibration-resistant belt-drive chassis. It also sports spectacular minimalist styling and precision engineering.

How it differs from its siblings, however, is found in its styling. Courtesy of Maharishi, a fellow British brand, this turntable gets a stunning new color combo: an OD green plinth top mated to a black platter, tonearm and more.

And it manages this significant style boost without pushing its pricing through the roof. While the looks are a major boost, the cost has gone up only moderately (relative to hi-fi turntables): $880 instead of $700.

Stay home or hit the road

While the turntable is the perfect companion for your bookshelf speakers and record collection, the other half of the collaboration is more travel-friendly. Still, the 7613 Maharishi Cambridge Audio Melomania A100 EarBuds are just as technologically impressive, albeit in different ways.

These ‘buds boast 10mm bass drivers for deceptively powerful low-end audio, LDAC high-quality audio, 7-band adjustable EQ (for those that like to tweak their settings), Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling and aptX Lossless tech.

They also have a sextet of onboard microphones for crystal-clear outgoing calls, IPX5 water resistance (meaning they’re tough enough for gym usage and light drizzles alike) and up to 30 hours of battery life (with the accompanying charging case).

They’ve also been given a stylistic boost, again courtesy of Maharishi. Now, they feature an OD green exterior with high-vis orange detailing (including the case interior).
