Even if it’s just one static flat and/or Philips head implement, lots of EDC tools offer some degree of screwdriving ability.

A much smaller number offer interchangeable bits, as these must be either integrated into the tool’s body or stored in a separate sheath.

A compact, metallic multi-bit screwdriver held in a hand, featuring a cylindrical design with multiple screwdriver bits stored inside its body. The tool has a sleek, silver-gray finish and a bit attached at the top.
Made of grade 5 titanium, the GripnGo 2.0 fits nicely in the hand and looks solid as a rock.

Rarer still is the driver that offers ratcheting capability, nearly indispensable if you are doing a lot of, you know, screwing.

A tool with all these qualities that is also streamlined, hard-wearing, smooth-operating and even clever seems almost mythical.

Yet, the endless font of innovation that is Kickstarter spouteth forth what appears to be the perfect tonic: TiMate’s new GripnGo 2.0 Titanium Driver. Hallelujah.

Fine form

Before getting into what this driver can do, let’s talk quickly about what it is.

The new-and-improved successor to the original, compelling-in-its-own-right GripnGo is a compact accessory made of lean and mean grade-5 titanium.

A hand is holding a compact, cylindrical multi-tool with a metallic finish. The tool has various bits stored inside its body and a detachable handle being inserted or removed from the top. The tool is positioned vertically with a screwdriver bit engaged at the bottom, resting on a black surface.
The bits sit solidly within the tool’s body, secured by the cap that forms the butt of the torque arm.

Measuring roughly 4 inches in length and weighing about 5 ounces, it is small and light enough to drop in a pocket or attach to a pack until you need it.

(It also comes with a snap-secured premium leather sheath, complete with a belt loop for quick access and a titanium keyring slot for even more carry options.)

With its body are eight bits of different sizes (that can be swapped out for alternatives), which magnetize not only into the storage slots but to the precision ratchet head when it’s time to work.

Last but not least is the real cleverness: the magnetically attached cap that helps secure the bits can be pulled off to reveal a rotating fold-out torque arm.

Fantastic function

If you haven’t already surmised, all these precision-machined elements add up to one super-versatile driver that is not only highly effective but also quite satisfying to use.

The bits fit perfectly in their little slots yet deploy smoothly when needed, clicking securely into the ratcheting head.

The ratcheting head itself can work with literally thousands of different bits for unparalleled versatility.

It is reversible and can also be fixed, enabling you to both unscrew and precision-tighten in addition to quickly driving the bits forward.

The torque arm, meanwhile, has been updated for better grip and higher torque without slipping, enabling quick and efficient work, even in tight spaces.

Last but not least, judging by the GIFs on the Kickstarter page, the stress-relieving fidget-friendliness is off the charts.

When you are having one of those days, that can be the greatest quality of all.
