Details matter. This is a slightly clichéd, overly simplistic observation, but for anyone who has tried to make a decent espresso shot at home, the sentiment will resonate deeply.

There are few brands that can keep up with the precision-oriented design of La Marzocco, but if any EDC brand could do so, it would be Victorinox

That’s why the mashup that I never saw coming, the Victorinox x La Marzocco Barista Tool, makes perfect sense.

The espresso-oriented multi-tool is designed for EDC enthusiasts who value quality — and coffee fanatics that demand only the best.

Precision collision

Built upon the framework of classic Swiss Army Knife design, the Victorinox x La Marzocco Barista Tool transforms the well-known multi-tool into an espresso lover’s dream.

That’s thanks to a few key changes, including espresso machine-specific implements and subtle design features that pay homage to both brands.

The Barista Tool is designed to “support the coffee ritual” according to Victorinox, and includes specialized tools to enhance the espresso making process.

The first is a 12mm nozzle remover, used for tightening and removing the steam tip for cleaning or replacing.

Next is the coffee spatula, which can be used to make precise measurement adjustments and level coffee grounds in the portafilter before tamping.

According to Victorinox, it can also be used to remove the basket from the portafilter for cleaning.

Screwdrivers for common espresso machine adjustments are also included.

Classic tools, reimagined

Furthering the depth of the collaboration, tools that have already been present on the Swiss Army Knife for years are now seen through the La Marzocco lens.

The large blade can be used to slice through large or thick coffee bags and special deliveries, while the small blade can handle smaller coffee bags.

The 1.5mm mini screwdriver can be used for removing the dispersion screw and screen for cleaning while the can opener is able to lever open coffee storage tins.

The reamer, punch and sewing awl can easily remove and swap the grouphead gasket, and the toothpick can clean out tiny areas of the machine that would be otherwise inaccessible.

From top to bottom, the entire Barista Tool implement set is meant to upgrade your daily coffee experience, down to the last detail.

Availability and pricing

The Barista Tool will be available through La Marzocco Home’s online store, retailing for $160.
