This past May, WiiM announced that it would be expanding its ecosystem of wireless multi-room audio devices — which, up until now, consisted of wireless streamers and streaming amplifiers — to include the WiiM Sound, the brand’s first-ever wireless speaker. It’s designed to compete with the likes of the Sonos Era 100 or Apple’s HomePod.
However, at the time, the California-based audio maker didn’t disclose exact price and availability information, as well as other key details, for the WiiM Sound. That has finally changed.
WiiM Sound

The WiiM Sound is a compact wireless speaker designed for individuals who already have a hi-fi system centered around one of WiiM’s existing wireless streamers or streaming amplifiers. The speaker can easily be grouped with other WiiM devices, making it easy to build out a multi-room audio similar.
In terms of size and appearance, the WiiM Sound is most similar to Apple’s HomePod. It’s roughly the same size and has a woven fabric exterior. The obvious difference is that the WiiM Sound also features a front-facing touchscreen color display, which displays items such as album artwork, playlists, and other menus.
