An Up-and-Coming Moto Brand’s Ambitious New Bike Embraces One of the Industry’s Most Polarizing Trends

CFMoto has unveiled a highly ambitious V4-powered motorcycle that’s sure to turn heads with its distinctive fairing.

If you’re not already familiar with CFMoto, you’re about to be. 

Since making its way stateside in 2007, the brand has continued to challenge the stigma of Chinese manufacturing with its budget-minded but compelling two-wheeled offerings. 

Along with cruisers like the 450CL-C, CFMoto has also looked to undercut the sport bike market through releases such as the 750SR-S. In each case, the brand’s motorcycles have brought an impressive spec — especially for the price point.

But none have dared fly as close to the sun as the brand’s latest design. Unveiled at EICMA 2025, it’s an ambitious superbike that’s set to take on some of the industry’s most potent performers by doubling down on one of its most controversial trends: winglets.

An active embrace of winglets

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, these frontal appendages are all the rage right now, as they yield proven aerodynamic benefits courtesy of their added downforce. (Why else do you think MotoGP bikes would be running such absurd spoilers?)

Though most casual riders will rarely (if ever) push the limits of their motorcycles such that they could actually utilize the advantages of winglets, many manufacturers are nevertheless eager to incorporate them across their lineups. If not for function, the feature does bring a distinctive stylistic element.

CFMoto’s new prototype — dubbed the V4 SR-RR — takes this trend to the next level. The bike’s winglets aren’t just massive in form factor, but also active in function. CFMoto designed them to automatically change their position for optimal aero and stability at speed.

As if that wasn’t enough, the winglets are also said to work in conjunction with the bike’s semi-active electronic suspension setup. Together, they can transform it from high-downforce to low-drag spec in the matter of seconds.

Regardless of any potential advantages, there’s no denying that it makes for a distinctive look. The S1000RR (as well as its Concept RR sibling) and the V4 R draw plenty of criticism for their massive winged designs, and those are bikes from established German and Italian manufacturers like BMW and Ducati.

If the looks weren’t enough to make a statement, just wait until you get a load of the rest of the bike.. Though CFMoto hasn’t shared the full details for the V4 SR-RR prototype, the brand has teased a few exciting specs.

For instance, it will be powered by a 997cc V4 engine, which in itself is exciting considering how the platform is typically reserved for exotic (and expensive) Ducatis.

What’s more, it’s slated to be an absolute weapon, as CFMoto has stated that it will produce in excess 210 horsepower while weighing in at less than 441 pounds. In other words, it promises to have a power to weight ratio of less than one pony-per-kilogram. 

In keeping with its performance initiatives, the V4 SR-RR will also reportedly be good for a top speed in excess of 186 mph. As such, it’s reasonable to expect that it’s packed with rider aids, considering that even the 675 SS gets dual-channel ABS and adjustable traction control.

Hinting at what’s to come

At this stage, CFMoto has been careful to call the V4 SR-RR a prototype, stating that it’s a “glimpse of what’s to come, a statement of intent rather than a production-ready model.”

All the same, the bike appears to be highly production-ready underneath all that camo. Considering that the brand has already managed to get a prototype working only a year after displaying models of the engine and design, it’s only a matter of time before we see one roaming the streets.
