Hoka’s Elite Hiking Boot Might Even Look More Rugged with a Retro Facelift

The brand’s pinnacle of trail performance gets a street-friendly makeover, all without losing a step.

You can’t trust a book by its cover. And never mind this neo-vintage hiking boot from Hoka.

The Kaha 3 Gore-Tex is the latest style to join the brand’s Elite Terrain System, a collection of performance-first footwear remastered for everyday wear.

Now part of Hoka’s Elite Terrain System, the Kaha 3 Gore-Tex gets a set of retro details, including hairy suede around the ankle.

In this case, that means the boot adopts a set of distressed details akin to your favorite pair of washed denim.

These range from two-tone suede and nubuck leather to faded paint across the midsole, all meant to mimic the “burnished look boots earn with a life of adventure,” Hoka says.

Nevertheless, the Elite Terrain System Kaha 3 Gore-Tex retains its trail-ready chops.

True to its name, Gore-Tex lining envelops the boot in a protective waterproof barrier, while Vibram Megagrip (the same stuff found in Hoka’s most advanced trail runners) brings industry-leading traction to the outsole.

Vibram Megagrip means these outsoles can trek pretty much anywhere.

There’s also a cozy sock liner to combat foot fatigue and a dual-density sugarcane EVA midsole, both guaranteeing that all-day comfort Hoka has become synonymous with over the years.

Availability and pricing

Available for 260 Swiss francs (approximately $326), the Hoka Elite Terrain System Kaha 3 Gore-Tex is already for sale overseas, with a US released expected in the coming weeks.

It comes in a single dark-blurple colorway called “Grey Skies.”
