As a tiny knife enthusiast, I absolutely love my WESN Microblade.

With its closed length of 2.25 inches, it sits perfectly on a keychain, while the 1.5-inch blade is surprisingly versatile and handy.

Still, I can’t help but do a double-take over Small Carry’s latest release, which somehow comes much smaller, yet still appears quite functional.

Dubbed the Pinner, this wallet-friendly dynamo is making one helluva case for some keychain space.

Tiny answer

So, just how small is this sucker? The Pinner measures 3cm (1.2 inches) closed and 4.3cm (1.7 inches) open, with its chonky little blade offering an 11.5mm (0.45-inch) cutting edge.

That’s really not much, but when it comes to daily tasks such as box opening, tag removing and twine cutting, it’s absolutely qualified.

Especially considering the bevy of design and engineering know-how packed into it.

After all, the Pinner’s components are CNC-machined for inch-perfect precision, with a non-locking mechanism that nonetheless keeps the blade securely in place when it’s both closed and open.

Small as it is, I dare say it is ergonomically optimized; the contoured underbelly of the handle provides a nice spot for the thumb and middle finger, while a bit of jimping on the back of the blade improves index finger grip.

The base materials appear pretty solid in their own right — a steel handle and stainless steel blade of unspecified type.

However, if you are willing to splash a bit more cash (see details below), you can upgrade to more bombproof ingredients.

I’m talking a titanium handle and a blade made of Damascus steel, which is renowned for its history, its unique rippling finish and its winning blend of edge retention and toughness.

Rounding out the user-friendly features are a couple of key holes. The one in the blade itself aids deployment — with a bit of practice, you might even be able to spring it with one hand.

The one in the handle sets it up perfectly for your keychain, where it shall fly quite under the radar, even smaller than a fob, till the moment you cheekily deploy it to surmount the next daily speed bump.

The Small Carry Pinner is available now on Kickstarter, with Early Bird pricing starting at ~$25.

Upgrading the body to titanium and the blade to Damascus steel adds ~$9 and ~$12, respectively.

Estimated delivery is May 2026.
