Legendary food critic Craig Claiborne is known for saying, “Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy.”

When you’re working in a cramped kitchen or over a barebones camp cooking setup, that joy can be more difficult to access … but Yeti’s upcoming release makes that elated emotion much more available.

The Carbon Steel Griddle combines no-nonsense design with a lightweight, oversized form factor designed to make every meal a delight.

Let him Yeti cook

Debuting later this month, the Carbon Steel Griddle continues Yeti’s expansion into carbon steel cookware, a notably lighter, less brittle and naturally nonstick alternative to traditional cast iron cookware (which, for what it’s worth, Yeti also produces).

At 22 inches wide and 12 inches high, with generous 6-inch handles, the Carbon Steel Griddle is still relatively light for its footprint at 12 pounds.

Measuring in at 22 inches wide x 12 inches high, the 12-pound griddle is constructed with pre-seasoned carbon steel designed to get better with age.

The non-toxic nonstick quality of the material makes it easy to flip pancakes and other snacks with ease, and the nitrided treatment makes the entire griddle rust-resistant.

Whether you have one dish or two, the griddle’s expansive cook surface allows for active cooking and warming at the same time.

The generous size of the griddle allows for dual cooking zones, so one side can sear while the other keeps things warm and toasty.

There’s a unique lip edge that keeps everything contained without adding bulk, and angled corners allow for easy grease disposal.

Although 12 pounds is robust enough to keep the griddle in place while cooking up a feast, compared to a similarly-sized cast iron pan of the same size, there’s a weight savings of at least five pounds.

And unlike more finnicky cast iron, the Carbon Steel Griddle can be cleaned by hand washing with soap and water, making post-meal washing-up a breeze.

Availability and pricing

The Carbon Steel Griddle will be available later this month on Yeti’s website, where it will retail for $200.
