This Is What Happens When a Beloved Off-Road Brand Goes Absolutely Hog Wild on an Old-School Jeep Rig

Once a SEMA-bound build, this mean green Wagoneer packs significant performance and visual upgrades inside and out.

Being one of the OGs in the outdoor accessories space, KC HiliTES is a brand that you see featured on more off-road builds than not.

And rightly so — over the course of its 50-year history, the outfit has built a reputation for making top-notch lighting products, and its logo adds some utility (read: authenticity) to any would-be adventure rig.

What was once a 1969 Wagoneer is now the high-riding adventuremobile you see before you.

So what happens when a brand like KC HiliTES gets to go to town on a build all of its own? As you’ll see with this classic Jeep, the results are nothing short of eye-catching.

One mean green machine

KC originally built the rig you see before you as part of its 2019 SEMA show display. Dubbed the ‘AdvHulk,’ it’s based on a 1969 Jeep Wagoneer, though it’s obviously far from stock.

Under the hood, for instance, it now packs a 6.0-liter LY6 Vortec V8 along with a custom air intake, an aluminum radiator, as well as a dual-battery setup. Considering that the engine is rated for some 385 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque even in stock applications, it makes for a significant upgrade over the factory 5.7-liter Buick block.

And that’s not all. This Jeep Wagoneer rides on a lifted suspension setup that comes complemented by Atlas leaf springs, remote-reservoir shocks and a set of 17-inch Evans Racing beadlock wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires.

Top it off with a bespoke aluminum fuel tank, an Aeromotive electric fuel pump and an upgraded Hardwired Performance wiring harness to support lights and other equipment, it makes for an SUV that’s far more modern than its VIN stamping might suggest.

Of course, with an overlanding rig like this particular Wagoneer, it’s all about the details. Thankfully, KC HiliTES didn’t forget the importance of giving a build its proper finishing touches.

An eye for the details

Along with treating the truck to fresh a shade of Avocado Green with black trim and textured bedliner accents, this meant fitting it with an extensive array of accessories.

As such, front and rear, you’ll find KC light bars, some trick custom LED lights, as well as a one-off roof rack. In combination with some custom NVFab front and rear bumpers, a Warn winch and a swing-away tire carrier — not to mention the simulated rust and body wear — makes for quite the look.

However, inside, things are comparatively refined. In place of the stock seats and upholstery, it sports PRP front and rear seats, along with a custom headliner, carpets and door panels.

Of course, being a SEMA build, that’s not enough. Accordingly, this Wagoneer even comes with a custom center console, a Bluetooth-capable digital stereo unit and a Rugged Radios intercom system.

Finished off with creature comforts like an aftermarket air conditioning system and a custom mini fridge, this is one Jeep that is jonesing for a camping trip.
