Vosteed is only a few short years old. However, that hasn’t stopped the brand from becoming a powerhouse in everyday carry and knifemaking. The brand’s catalog is already approaching 500 SKUs, between its 40+ knife silhouettes and other offerings.

However, one of its latest projects is a return to one of its original offerings. The Vosteed Raccoon 2.0 takes one of the brand’s fan-favorite flagship knives and upgrades it in numerous ways โ€” all while maintaining its remarkable affordability.

Fans of the original Raccoon should be pleased, as the changes to this version don’t interfere too much with what was already an outstanding blueprint. For instance, it maintains its same silhouette and overall size.

For those unfamiliar, the knife is 7.60 inches in total with a 3.25-inch blade. Furthermore, many of the materials remain the same, like the knife’s respectable yet budget-friendly 14C28N steel blade and Micarta handle.

While there have been several iterations of the Raccoon over Vosteed’s history, this particular one features a button-actuated liner lock. This remarkably convenient and user-friendly spin on a classic offers plenty of strength and reliability.

And while the lock isn’t ambidextrous โ€” it is situated in a spot that’s more righty-friendly โ€” the dual thumb stud deployment and reversible pocket clip are. And did I mention the lanyard hole? No? Well, it has one.

Do-it-all EDC

To an outsider, the Raccoon 2.0 might look pretty much the same as the 1.0 version. That assessment, however, would be incorrect. While the changes are visually slight, they make a big impact.

For instance, the knife now has a reinforced structure, making it stronger, more rigid and more stable overall. The lock has also been enhanced to make it stronger and more stable, as well. It’s also more reliable than before.

The backspacer gets updated, swapping the original standoff structure for a full-aluminum option that’s more rigid and solid. It also gets some jimping for a little stylistic flair and better overall grip.

The blade also features dual jimping zones, which provide better control and stability during tougher cuts, making precision work easier and more manageable. And the handle scales have been beveled for a more ergonomic feel and sleeker appearance.

Best of all, you get all of that (and more) withough seeing an increase in the entry fee.
