Back in September, Baltic completely overhauled its flagship Aquascaphe after a seven-year run as one of the market’s most beloved affordable dive watches.
The “MK2” update added Lumicast solid ceramic lume indices in place of the original sandwich dial, upsized hands, more lume, a fully marked bezel and a more modern case design in two sizes: 39.5mm and 37mm.
One thing the update didn’t add was a date complication, and people noticed. While many dive watch purists and watch enthusiasts, including yours truly, prefer the toolish, no-date look for a dive watch, others like the practicality of a date … especially if they plan on using the watch as their everyday watch.
Baltic says “many” fans requested a date, and the brand has finally listened to those pleas with the launch of the Aquascaphe MK2 Date.

Chief among Baltic‘s considerations when adding a date to the Aquascaphe was doing so in a way that had minimal impact on the look of the watch. After all, the Aquascaphe is known for its beauty and symmetrical, simple design, so carelessly tossing the typical white date window at 3:00 would completely throw off the watch’s admirable aesthetic.
Instead, Baltic has incorporated the date window at 6:00 to preserve the symmetry of the dial, with the window completely replacing the 6:00 index. Although this means you lose some lume, the overall vibe of the watch remains intact.
