One of the Toughest Folding Knives Ever Made Just Got Way More User-Friendly

If you’re a fan of knives and Terrain 365 isn’t already on your radar, you’re doing yourself a serious disservice. For seven years, this brand — founded by master bladesmith Michael Vagnino and outdoor maven Patrick Ma — has produced some of the industry’s most rugged, cutting-edge bladed tools (and much more.)

Well, its flagship offering (and most iconic design) just got even more convenient to use (on top of being unbelievably rugged,) courtesy of a new locking mechanism.

The Terrain 365 Invictus-BL could put this silhouette in the running for best knife of the decade.

New lock, who dis?

The Invictus has seen a couple of different locks over its tenure. It was launched with (and most typically features) an integrated frame lock. However, it was recently affixed with a spinal Infinity Lock.

This latest iteration, however, surpasses all its previous ones in terms of convenience and ease of use. That’s because it now features a button lock, which is built into the knife’s pivot.

It’s a really ingenious idea (one that I count among my all-time favorite EDC innovations) that allows for maximum user-friendliness — all you have to do to operate the lock is push the button — without sacrificing strength, durability and so on.

While the concept has existed in other knives — Vosteed’s Vanchor Lock comes to mind — this one is at least uniquely executed enough to have earned Terrain 365 a patent.

Return of the Mack

Besides the addition of the mechanism itself, the best part of this new button lock take on the Terrain 365 Invictus is the fact that virtually everything else about the knife remains intact. For those in the know, this is sure to come as a major boon. For those not, allow me to enlighten you.

The Invictus is an incredible knife. That begins with its 3.5-inch blade, which is crafted from the brand’s proprietary Terrevantium Dendritic Cobalt steel — a material so corrosion-resistant that it’s literally guaranteed for life. It also offers superb edge retention, easy sharpening, and low overall maintenance.

The blade also features dual thumb studs for manual deployment — complete with glow-in-the-dark cabochons — and a fuller groove. It is mated to the handle via a ceramic ball-bearing pivot (where the button lock is housed.)

The handle features full titanium construction with signature fuller grooves, a full backspacer with jimping, a low-profile billet pocket clip and more. The whole package is remarkably robust, incredibly stylish, ergonomic and (most importantly) built to last.

You can already score the Terrain 365 Invictus-BL on the brand’s site for $389. However, the brand’s offerings tend to sell pretty quickly, even considering their high prices, so you’ll likely want to buy sooner rather than later.
