In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new fitness craze called Hyrox — and it’s designed to be one of the most intense competitions out there.

The Crossfit-adjacent fitness race is equal parts punishing and rewarding, and in an effort to support athletes giving it all, Puma has developed a Hyrox-specific shoe that can run, jump and move freely.

The upcoming Deviate Nitro Elite Hyrox, set to release on February 19th, is purpose-built and packed with Puma’s best technologies, all coalescing in a shoe that’s constructed to handle one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.

Challenge accepted

Often overshadowed by competing fitness-focused brands, Puma is one of the most underrated footwear companies on the market — and constantly pushing innovation, even if it feels behind the scenes.

It’s fitting then, that Puma would grace us with a Hyrox-specific shoe to start off 2026 with a bang — or, rather, a lunge.

For the uninitiated, Hyrox is a fitness race that combines eight workout stations and eight kilometers of running, with one kilometer spacing out each intense stop.

Challenges include the SkiErg machine, sled push, burpees, rowing machine, lunges and more. With so many types of movement, one shoe couldn’t handle it all … until now.

A shoe in

Puma packed this shoe to the gills with everything one would need to dominate a Hyrox race, with four distinct technologies playing a role.

First, there’s the traction-focused, proprietary Pumagrip outsole, which features a specially engineered lug pattern for multi-surface control.

Then, there’s the NitroFoam Elite cushioning, Puma’s nitrogen-infused foam formulated to deliver as much energy return as possible.

The lightweight UltraWeave upper keeps things minimal and breathable, which is crucial for each of those kilometer runs.

Finally, the propulsive carbon fiber PWRPlate maintains dynamic movement and support.

Every component of Puma’s high-tech new shoe is set up to maximize speed, power and endurance.
