On may recommend its new shoe for “city strolls,” but frankly, that’s probably a bit reductive.

The upcoming Cloud 6 Geo Waterproof basically beckons for rugged outdoor usage. And if that isn’t evident by the name, it should be by the specs.

Built with a waterproof polyester upper, the shoe also features a multilayered mudguard and toecap, fashioned from ballistic nylon and “inspired by a topographic map,” On says.

It also boasts On’s proprietary Speedboard sandwiched in the midsole — a plate like those found in today’s top super shoes — to improve stability and nimbleness on variable terrain, as well as a Missiongrip outsole for reliable traction.

Perhaps the most telling sign of its potential, however, are the technical no-tie toggle laces, which promise adjustability on the trail, not to mention an easy on and off after a long day of walking.
