G-Shock Taps Toyota to Make the Toughest-Looking Watch You’ll See All Year

Forget shock and water resistance. G-Shock’s latest collab with Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body deserves its own classification of gnarly.

No doubt about it: G-Shocks are tough. Like, fall-off-building-with-barely-a-scratch tough.

But the Master of G Mudmaster is its own special kind of gnarly.

Beyond the brand’s legendary shock and water resistance — table stakes when it comes to G-Shock watches — the Mudmaster boasts specially sealed button guards and gaskets to protect the watch from mud, dust and debris.

Add in stainless steel components and a carbon-reinforced core, both part of the Master of G trim package, and you end up with one of the single strongest watches in G-Shocks entire oeuvre.

Leave it to Toyota to find another level of grit.

Night and day

The newly announced GWG-B1000TLC-1A is the latest collaboration between G-Shock and Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body.

The watch comes with cobranding throughout, including the name Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body on the band.

Like previous partnerships between the two entities, the watch takes inspiration from the world’s most extreme motorsports event, the Dakar Rally.

For example, G-Shock opted for an all-black design, finished with black ion plating, to evoke the grueling nighttime legs of the race.

Meanwhile, the urethane band’s texture mimics sand dunes, while the gold-tone metal band reflects the look of a full moon in the night sky.

Finally, the red, blue and yellow accents that appear on the face represent the colors found on the navigation systems used by Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body.

Availability and pricing

Launching first in Japan, the GWG-B1000TLC-1A will 140,800 Japanese yen (around $900) when it releases in early February.

Availability in other markets, such as Europe and the US, is expected to follow.
