Audemars Piguet is largely known for one watch: the Royal Oak, which happens to be one of the most iconic watches ever made.

But AP makes a lot more watches than just the Royal Oak, and the brand has been expanding its catalog quite a bit in recent years. It added the Code 11.159 collection in 2019, and just today, launched the all-new Neo-Frame collection.

Sitting in between the Royal Oaks and the decidedly-not-Royal Oaks in AP’s catalog is the Royal Oak Offshore, a more contemporary take on the legendary integrated sports watch that debuted in the 1990s and soon became a classic in its own right.

The Offshore collection allows AP to get more creative with the Royal Oak form, with the most notable deviation being the transformation into a legitimate dive watch with the Royal Oak Offshore Diver.

Today, amongst a parade of new releases from the brand, Audemars Piguet has launched a trio of new Offshore Divers that are among the best-looking it’s ever created.

Turquoise and pink are two colors that have been hot in the sports watch industry over the past couple of years, as seen in watches ranging from Tudor’s eye-popping Black Bay Chronograph duo to Norqain’s brand-defining Wild One Skeleton, but we haven’t really seen AP get into these bright, Miami-coded colors — at least not during the recent explosion.

But given the brand’s popularity in South Beach, it was only a matter of time, and now AP has given us both colors for its signature diver — along with a third, lower-key new shade.

The two most interesting of AP’s three new Offshore Divers have very similar setups. Both feature the same black Méga Tapisserie dial with white gold hands and indices filled with bright-white lume, and the same 42mm stainless steel case with dual black ceramic crowns.

Where the two models differ is in the color used on the markings of their black inner bezels and integrated rubber straps. Reference 15720ST.OO.A355CA.01 features turquoise bezel markings and a turquoise strap, while Ref. 15720ST.OO.A010CA.01 goes with pink for the bezel markings and white for the strap.

The turquoise version is certainly the more attention-grabbing of the two, and although I may have preferred a pink strap on the second model, I can’t deny that the white strap paired with the black-and-pink dial looks clean.

The third new Offshore Diver, Ref. 15720ST.OO.A403CA.01, is decidedly more muted, but still quite attractive. It opts for an “Abyssal Blue” dial and strap, black-and-white inner bezel, and 18K pink gold for the hands, indices and chips inside the black ceramic crowns.

Outside of the new shades, these are the same as any other 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Diver. They’re all rated to a depth of 300m and are powered by AP’s Calibre 4308 automatic movement, which beats at 4Hz and boasts a power reserve of 60 hours.

Pricing and availability

All three new Royal Oak Offshore Diver references are permanent additions to Audemars Piguet’s catalog and are available now from the brand’s authorized retailers.

All three also have the same price tag of $32,900. That sounds pretty hefty, but curiously, it’s actually $700 cheaper than existing references in the same line. The three new models are also referred to as “Offshore Selfwinding Diver” rather than simply “Offshore Diver” on the older references, but I can’t find any difference between the old and new models besides the colors, as all have the same dimensions, specs and movements.

So, maybe AP just felt like cutting prices out of the goodness of its heart? Probably not, but I’ll take it.
