Welp, after almost a decade, America’s definitive minivan, the Chrysler Pacifica (formerly the Town & Country, formerly Voyager formerly Dodge Grand Caravan, et al) got its first major update. Say hello to the somewhat redesigned 2027 Pacifica.

To the relief of prospective customers, America’s minivan benefits from a considerable price reduction in addition to its facelift. It’s more affordable by several thousand dollars.

Minivans are not dead

Although minivans fell by the wayside to SUVs, they’re far from being obsolete. The Pacifica and its rivals, the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and even the Kia Carnival all prove as much.

While they may not be the most popular type of family vehicle, minivans have seen a resurgence in other ways. Mainly, they’ve become popular among the nomadic lives of remote workers and overlanders alike, for obvious reasons.

Long overdue, the 2027 Chrysler Pacifica benefits from what’s quite literally and figuratively a facelift.

With so much space, you can literally live out of a minivan. And minivans aren’t like the ones from 20 years ago, with considerably more comfortable and feature-rich interiors.

Additionally, those who still purchase minivans are often a very dedicated lot. Which, in many ways, explains why they haven’t really changed much. The current crowd who typically goes after them are more than happy with the way they are.

And that’s primarily why Chrysler kept its Pacifica largely the same, aside from some design, equipment and pricing changes.

A new year, new face

While the front end and other exterior appointments are new, the Pacifica is largely the same as the model it replaces, which isn’t a bad thing.

So, what’s new? For starters, as one can tell from looking at the exterior, the front end gets a complete redesign, along with new wheel choices, updated badge designs and an illuminated grille.

The thin-profile headlights and semi-trapezoidal round grille get changed out for even thinner-looking upside L-shaped headlights. The latter mimics today’s current design trend of “waterfall lighting.”

The main grille shrinks in size, while the lower fascia picks up more aerated space to maintain air intake for the engine.

Otherwise, from thereon backward, the Pacifica looks largely the same as the model it replaces. Hey, don’t fix what ain’t broke.

On top of the fresh looks, the Pacifica gains some new additions, such as a new Blue Agave interior color, exclusively available with the new Pinnacle top-end trim. Other upgrades include an updated Safety Sphere Package with new blind-spot and park-assist-activated cameras, a standard height-adjustable power rear liftgate across all trims, and even a new base LX trim.

Speaking of which, that new LX entry trim now drops the starting price to $41,495, which is down from last year’s $44,445.

“Chrysler created the minivan 43 years ago, and we fully intend to continue leading the segment we invented,” Matt McAlear, Chrysler’s newly appointed CEO said in a statement.

“For the 2027 model year, Pacifica builds on the innovation and comfort our customers expect, with a refreshed exterior design, new safety and convenience features and smarter tech,” he concluded. “And true to its legacy, the Pacifica continues to celebrate all of its innovative, award-winning features.”
