This Ridiculously Affordable Street Bike Is a True Entry-Level Unicorn

The combination of looks, performance and price on this forbidden fruit could make the Big Four break out in a cold sweat.

As has been the case since as far back as the 1970s, some of the best motorcycles in the world hail from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The brands responsible? Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, known collectively as Japan’s Big Four.

That dominant reputation extends across a wide swath of categories, not least of which is affordable entry-level street bikes

Yet at least three of four might be losing sleep across the pond, where a dark horse known as the Voge R125S gallops into the marketplace with a value proposition sure to shake things up.

Naked and unafraid

For those unfamiliar, Voge is a burgeoning bike brand owned by Chongqing, China-based  Loncin, a major moto and engine manufacturer. 

Launched in 2018, Voge is more premium and wide-reaching than Loncin itself, with bigger bikes boasting superior engineering and materials and extending beyond China’s borders.

That said, the R125S sits on the lower-end of the Voge spectrum with regard to size and price, which is why it could pose a real threat to more established names. 

Brass tacks: the bike enters the UK market at £2,999 (~$4,000 USD), which the Brit bike bros at VisorDown point out hugely undercuts Yamaha’s MT125 (£5,300), Honda’s CB125R (£4,799) and even Kawasaki’s Z125 (£4,299).

The deep discount doesn’t really come at the expense of performance or looks either.

Derived from its less feature-loaded R125 sibling, the R125s’s single-cylinder 124.8cc engine makes the same 14.5 horsepower (at 9,500 rpm) as the Japanese bikes do, plus peak torque of just under 9 ft-lbs at 8,000 rpm.

Those numbers aren’t knocking anyone’s socks off, but that’s hardly the point, as this bike is optimized for daily commuting and light weekend adventures at a size and weight that rolls out the red carpet for newer and smaller riders.

Toward that end, the seat height is a relatively approachable 31.1 inches and the unladen weight is a super-manageable 311 pounds, with ABS and traction control helping you keep the rubber side down.

Even more impressive are some of the technical features, which are both cool and somewhat uncommon on a bike in this price range.

They include a full-color LCD dashboard with Bluetooth connectivity, full LED lighting (with some slick integrated front indicators) and a forward-facing 1080p camera.

Look closely: the coolest touch of all might be these built-in front indicators, way more streamlined and less prone to damage than what you’ll see on probably 90 percent of stock bikes (even bigger and pricier ones).

As for the looks, they pretty much speak for themselves, thanks to an aggressive street fighter silhouette that gives off the fiercest vibes possible for a 125cc bike.

Just go looking for variety: the badass black-and-yellow paint scheme is the only one available.

Availability and pricing

The 2026 Voge R125S is available for pre-order in the UK at a starting price of £2,999, which roughly converts to just over $4,000 USD.

Voge’s presence in the US is pretty limited, but with bikes such as the 300 Rally reaching our shores, there’s at least a bit of hope this one could hear our way down the road.
