If you’ve been watching the news, even casually, over the last few weeks, you might have caught that some astronauts flew to the moon for the first time in 54 years.
Okay, who am I kidding? It was one of the most significant bits of pop culture news on virtually every network and platform. You’d have to actively avoid it to not hear about it, and even then, you’d probably fail.
While it’s sad for space nerds like me that the historic NASA mission is over, the aftermath of the Integrity splashdown brings some outstanding news for watch fans: Breitling has finally unveiled the Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Artemis II, which the courageous astronauts wore during the spaceflight.
And it can now be yours …

One small step for man, one giant leap for Breitling
If you’ve been following Gear Patrol’s coverage of the Artemis II-related gear, you probably already caught that the crew wore a version of what is perhaps the most iconic spacefaring watch ever, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, outside their launch suits. Well, once they took those suits off, they swapped those Omegas for another historically significant spacefaring model, the Breitling Navitimer.
The Navitimer holds the distinction as the first Swiss watch to ever go to space, courtesy of astronaut Scott Carpenter when he orbited Earth three times as part of NASA’s Mercury-Atlas 7 mission in 1962. That custom-designed Navitimer, with its 24-hour dial, launched a new era for the brand.
