Edifier has been making some of the best affordable speakers, both passive and powered, for the past three decades. It sells a wide variety of bookshelf speakers for between $150 and $300.

Earlier this year at CES 2026, Edifier revealed the M90, the brand’s first compact active speaker with HDMI eARC. According to the company, it’s designed “to bridge desktop and TV-based setups.”

Fast forward to today, and the Edifier M90 is finally available.

The Edifier M90 represents a first for the brand, but the category of compact active speaker systems that “bridge the gap” between desktop hi-fi and the home theater is booming. Onkyo, Audioengine, Kanto Audio, Klipsch and KEF are just a few of the hi-fi manufacturers that have similar bookshelf-sized systems.

Like their competitors, the Edifier M90 has an extensive collection of inputs, including line-in, optical, USB-C, and HDMI eARC, so you can easily hook the system to your desktop, TV, or other music players.

2-way design, 100-watt power

Additionally, the M90 can be used as a standalone streaming system. It has built-in Bluetooth and supports LDAC, promising higher-resolution streaming than most Bluetooth speakers. (Assuming that the streaming source also supports LDAC.)

As for the speakers, each has a two-way design with a 4-inch long-throw mid-low driver and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter. The 100-watt system has a bi-amp setup, so each speaker delivers 35 watts and 15 watts to the woofer and tweeter, respectively.

In short, this little speaker system promises to sound way bigger than it is. There’s also a subwoofer output, in case you decide you want to add more bass (maybe Edifier’s T5 powered subwoofer?) to the system down the road.

As the photos suggest, the Edifier M90 compact active speaker system comes in two different finishes: black or white.
