Oris is best known for tool watches that are refined enough to look good on the wrist every day. The Aquis, Divers, Propilot and Big Crown collections are stocked with watches that blend refined form with practical function.

However, the Swiss watchmaker can make a damn fine dress watch with equal wearability when it feels like it. The Artelier collection filled that niche back in the 2000s, but after a long hiatus, it’s back with a full redesign inspired by mid-century modern design.

Watches and Wonders Geneva: Rolex, Grand Seiko and dozens of other heavy hitters gather in Switzerland every year to release their biggest watches. Catch up on all the new novelties.

Oris accurately describes the revived and revised Artelier collection as an “urban dress watch,” which isn’t an indication of where it should be worn but rather a description of the everyday refinement it exhibits.

While most dress watches, especially in the luxury tier, are reserved for special occasions, Oris designed these watches to be foundational pieces that hardly ever leave your wrist.

The flagship of the collection is the Artelier Date, featuring a 38mm polished stainless steel case, available on a steel H-link bracelet or a dark-brown leather strap with a steel deployant clasp.

The Artelier Date presents the most elegant dial in the collection. It features baton hour and minute hands that taper at the base, joined by a needle seconds hand with no counterbalance.

The only time markers on the dial are applied wedge hour markers, uniform in size and shape except for an enlarged 12:00 index. A small, frameless date window sits above the 6:00 index, keeping the complication discrete.

Three of a kind

The Artelier Date is the only member of the new collection to feature a new radial dial texture, comprised of alternating solid and dashed etched lines.

The texture ceases at the hour marker ring, creating a sector layout, with the outer portion of the dial finished in a satin texture.

This etching is used for the blue and brown dials, but the white dial is cleaner with a fine, grainy texture, similar to an eggshell. When paired with the steel bracelet, it creates a shimmering, monochromatic look.

Another monochromatic motif is achieved when pairing the brown dial with the leather strap, which has been coordinated in a uniform shade of chocolate brown.

Getting complicated

The Artelier collection debuts with four models, ranging in complication from the time-only Artelier S, to the Artelier Caliber 113 with an in-house business calendar movement.

However, the two middle-of-the-pack models offer the best look and value. Much of the Alterier Date’s value lies in its Sellita-based Oris Caliber 733 automatic movement, which beats at 4Hz and offers a 41-hour power reserve.

The other highlight of the collection is the Artelier Complication, which swaps out the date for a moonphase and a 24-hour subdial with a second timezone for an extra $1,000. The dial comes in blue, burgundy and silver, with all three featuring the same eggshell texture as the white Artelier Date.

The Artelier Complication has a slightly larger case at 39.5mm, and is available on the same brown leather strap and steel H-link bracelet as the Date model.

Availability and pricing

The Oris Artilier collection is available for preorder now and will arrive in July 2026. The Artelier Date costs $2,200 on a leather strap and $2,400 on a steel bracelet, quite the bargain for an all-purpose dress watch of this caliber.
