Rolex’s Secret New Flagship Joins an Illustrious Watch Club

One of watch culture’s most coveted colorways just found its way again onto Rolex’s flagship watch — and this time, it’s more refined and limited than ever.

Watch trends tend to move in cycles. Dial colors that dominate one year can feel tired the next. Yet one shade has managed to hold the luxury watch world in a surprisingly firm grip for nearly half a decade now: turquoise blue.

Whether people call it “Tiffany blue” or not, the color has become shorthand for modern watch hype ever since the frenzy surrounding the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 Tiffany & Co. release. Since then, brands across every price tier have chased some version of the same formula, from playful chronographs to affordable sports watches.

Rolex, however, never really had to chase the trend. It was already there.

Now the Crown appears to have quietly delivered one of its most elevated takes on the look yet.

Turquoise, meet sapphire

As an off-catalog release for 2026, you won’t find any public information about the new Rolex Day-Date reference on Rolex’s official media channels.

As part of Rolex’s more discreet and elite off-catalog collection, you’ll never find any official public information about this new Rolex Day-Date directly through the Crown’s official media channels, or see this watch displayed in the window of a Rolex authorized dealer.

Instead, as is usually the case these days, the details of this release have leaked organically through boutique channels, collectors with access, and a few outlets with direct contacts to these sources, such as Watch Guys and Becker Time.

This 18k white gold Day-Date 36 pairs a turquoise stone dial with an additional upgrade: baguette-cut blue sapphire markers.

It’s a lavish and extremely limited configuration, no doubt, but one that somehow manages to feel restrained compared to most of the gem-set off-catalog Rolexes we’ve seen and even other highly coveted turquoise-dialed additions to the Crown’s standard catalog.

The watch has gold hour markers and hands, and is paired with a black rubber strap. The watch is worn on a wrist with a light blue shirt cuff and dark jacket sleeve visible.

The release continues a long-running Rolex fascination with shades of aqua and light blue.

The brand helped ignite modern demand for colorful lacquer dials with its 2020 Oyster Perpetual collection, followed by watches like the somewhat controversial Celebration Dial Oyster Perpetual and the turquoise-lacquer Daytona reference 126518LN favored by Carlos Alcaraz.

The Celebration Dial Rolex Oyster Perpetual was launched in 2023 and remains one of the most controversial releases from the Crown in quite some time in the eyes of collectors due to its unique and bold “bubble dial” design. It’s dial features plenty of color, but turquoise blue is still the piece’s defining shade.

Rolex has even introduced a similar-looking Day-Date back in 2023, a turquoise-stone dial Day-Date 36 model featuring a full diamond bezel and diamond-set hour markers, which made the piece far more blingy and somewhat less gender-neutral.

Rolex released a somewhat similar-looking Day-Date 36 with a turquoise stone dial back in 2023, but details like the bezel set with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds and diamond-set hour markers made this iteration far more blingy and somewhat less gender neutral.

Because this Rolex Day-Date exists within the brand’s off-catalog ecosystem, official pricing and allocation details remain somewhat murky.

But thanks to a few screenshot leaks from retailers and plugged-in collectors, we have an idea of how much the piece costs: $69,100, as well as its materials and official reference number.

While certainly rich, it happens to be quite close to the $68,850 asking price of the current platinum Day-Date 36 in Rolex’s main catalog.

Are buyers still paying for a premium for exclusivity? Absolutely, after all, this new turquoise Day-Date is made from white gold, not pricier platinum.

Yet, in the grand scheme of Rolex off-catalog releases, this reference is bound to hold much broader appeal than some of the more outlandish and lavish offerings that often float around in the off-catalog sphere.

Supposed “official” screenshots of this off-catalog reference have appeared on various social media channels, which appear to provide some information about the new Day-Date’s price, reference, and materials.

And that may ultimately be why this release stands out even in an era oversaturated with turquoise dial watches.

Plenty of brands have chased the look over the last few years. Rolex, meanwhile, appears to be elevating it into something closer to a private-club flex — one tied not just to money, but to access.

Assuming this piece proves as limited as its off-catalog status suggests, owning one may wind up being less about chasing a trend and more about securing one of the most elusive and refined turquoise-dial Rolexes the Crown has ever produced.
