The Canadian Tuxedo is one of my favorite ensembles; I wear the denim-on-denim look at least once a week. It’s timeless. It’s comfortable. It’s somewhat polarizing.

While I’ve never gone so far as to try and get my footwear in on the blue jean action, Vans’ latest release might just change that.

Denim on denim … on denim

The forthcoming Vans Authentic Denim Pack doesn’t just swap the traditional canvas upper for a jean remix; the denim material is carried all the way through the midsole and sidewall, resulting in a mini Canadian tuxedo for your feet.

The 60-year-old sneaker looks brand-new with this materially monochromatic treatment, and it’s by far one of the more unique looks from Vans to date.

And yet, it’s also totally approachable and easy to wear, given the laid-back and casual vibes associated with denim.

The metal eyelets dress things up a little, while the off-white laces on the indigo version provide balance, and the tonal laces on the black pair offer discrete style.

For the more subtle among us, the blacked-out pair somewhat obfuscates the denim-on-denim action happening with the latest Authentic, and will be a conversation starter only for those close enough to get a good look at your kicks.

The Authentic Denim Pack is already making its way to Vans’ overseas markets and select retailers, and is expected to follow on the brand’s U.S. website.
