Almost exactly one year ago, Audioengine introduced the A2+ Next Gen, which are new and improved versions of the 2019-released A2+, the brand’s most popular and most affordable desktop speaker system.

These “Next Gen” models look and work almost exactly like their predecessors, but feature an improved 24-bit DAC (an upgrade from 16-bit) and a USB-C input, enabling higher-resolution audio and easier connection to today’s laptops and desktops. They support Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX HD, enabling high-quality audio streaming.

And now, the Texas-based audio brand is introducing its A2+ Next Gen powered speaker system in a new color option: High-gloss Limoncello Yellow.

Next Gen, New Yellow

These new “Limoncello Yellow” editions of the A2+ Next Gen are part of Audioengine’s annual “Color of the Year” initiative, where it has its fans vote on what color they want to see these speakers in, which typically just come in the standard black, white and red finishes.

In the past two years, the winners of the Color of the Year contest were matte green (2025) and matte blue (2024). The former of which you can still buy because, according to the brand, it was very popular and thus “led to additional production.”

(Note: these 2026 COTY edition speakers also have a key upgrade over other-colored models: they support Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Adaptive, and thus can stream a little higher-quality audio.)

Matching yellow stands

Audioengine claims that these speakers, in high-gloss limoncello yellow, are finished using the same 13-step painting process used on a baby grand piano. According to the brand, the fresh finish “brings energy and character to any listening space.”

Additionally, for the first time in this Color of the Year initiative, Audioengine is introducing its S6 subwoofer and DS1M speaker stands in the same color finish. This way, everything matches.

The A2+ Next are primed for desktop use, but they also support Bluetooth streaming and have RCA inputs for connecting to a more traditional hi-fi source.

Price and availability

Audioengine claims that these Color of the Year speakers (and other matching components) will be produced in small quantities. Of course, a year on and you can still buy last year’s winners, the A2+Next Gen in matte green … so take that as you will.

The A2+ Next Gen in the new color cost $299, which is actually $20 more expensive than the standard models that are now available read, black and white, as well as limited edition models in matte orange and matte green.

The matching DS1M stands cost $39 and are sold separately.
