Dali is a high-end Danish hi-fi manufacturer with a history dating back to the early 1980s. The brand, which stands for “Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries,” specializes in extremely high-end loudspeakers — its flagship Kore floorstanders, for example, command a price tag upwards of $120,000.

Flipping expectations on their head, the revered audio maker just announced an affordable pair of bookshelf speakers, named the Kupid, which it claims represent “a new entry point to genuine hi-fi sound.”

Entry-level price

Let’s start with the price — the Dali Kupid are £299 or €338 per pair, which comes out to around $400. It’s a far cry from the brand’s other most recent pair of bookshelf speakers, the Epikore 3, which go for $15,000.

Despite the accessible price, Dali claims that the Kupid loudspeakers share the same DNA as its higher-end Kore and Epikore loudspeaker lines, but “delivers it in a smaller, more approachable package ideal for modern living spaces.”

Five bookshelf speakers stacked in a pyramid shape, each with a two-driver design featuring a tweeter above a woofer. The speakers have different finishes: dark wood, cream, mustard yellow, black, and navy blue. The brand name "DALI" is visible on the woofer surrounds.
The five finishes: Black Ash, Walnut, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue.

Trickle-down sound

Dali is claiming that the Kupid is built with its proprietary technologies that have never been seen before in a bookshelf speaker this affordable.

Each speaker features a two-way design, comprising a custom 26mm ultra-light soft dome tweeter and a proprietary 4.5-inch paper and wood-fibre bass/midrange driver. It also features custom crossovers and a “dual flare” bass reflex port.

The rear speaker displays a bass reflex port at the top and gold-plated speaker terminals below it. Both speakers have rounded edges and a smooth, polished surface.

Amplifier-optimized

Dali designed the Kupid to work with most traditional or desktop hi-fi setups, as they present a consistent impedance of over 4 ohms.

According to the brand, this ensures “smooth performance across a wide range of amplifiers, including budget-friendly Hi-Fi amplifiers and all-in-one amplifier and streamer systems.”

Five colored finishes

To make them even more fun and accessible, Dali is offering the Kupid bookshelf speakers in five different finishes: Black Ash, Walnut, Caramel White, Golden Yellow and Chilly Blue finishes.

Each loudspeaker’s bass/midrange cones are color-matched to the cabinet finishes. Each comes with a color-matched grille, too, which magnetically attaches to the front of the speaker.

The right speaker has a dark blue body and front panel, with a similar design: a black tweeter with radial lines and a dark blue woofer with a black rim. Both speakers have the brand name "DALI" printed below the woofer. The speakers are placed on a reflective white surface.
Dali will sell the Kupid as pairs or individuals, so you can mix and match the different finishes.

Mix and match finishes

Additionally, Dali will sell the Kupid bookshelf speakers as pairs or as individuals, the latter of which will allow you to mix-and-match different finishes together.

Dali claims that the Kupid marks a new chapter for the brand, with the goal of making hi-fi more affordable. The press release reads: “By focusing on what matters — sound quality, build integrity, and aesthetic appeal — and stripping away the unnecessary, Kupid invites everyone to experience music the way it was meant to be heard.”
