In 2020, Virgil Abloh, the late artistic director at Louis Vuitton and founder of Off-White, started developing an artistic proposal for McIntosh, with the hope that it would lead to a special series of hi-fi components.
Of course, because of Abloh’s tragic passing from cancer in 2021, this collaborative series never came to fruition.
But Abloh did share an initial concept of a special-edition McIntosh amplifier and now, as a tribute to Abloh’s “design legacy and culture-shaping creativity,” the legendary New York-based audio manufacturer has brought Abloh’s vision to life.
McIntosh MA8950 x Virgil Abloh Integrated Amplifier

The McIntosh MA8950 x Virgil Abloh is a special version of McIntosh’s MA8950 integrated amplifier, which was released in 2022 and currently sells for $10,500.
For those not familiar with the stereo amplifier, it’s a beast — capable of delivering 200 watts per channel and, according to the brand, capable of powering almost any pair of speakers.
