Since 2020, Leak Audio has been releasing reimagined versions of its classic speakers and hi-fi components from the 1950s and ’60s.

The most obvious examples of this are the Stereo 130 and Stereo 230 integrated amplifiers, which have the same Art Deco-inspired chassis and walnut veneer casing as the brand’s Stereo 30 amplifier, released in 1963, but feature modern tech and connections.

Additionally, the heritage British audio maker has introduced two loudspeakers, the Sandwich 250 ($2,995) and the Sandwich 150 ($1,595), both designed to look like the brand’s original 1961-released Sandwich loudspeaker.

Now, it has added a third, smaller and more affordable loudspeaker option.

The Leak Sandwich 100 is a pair of passive bookshelf speakers that are built in the same image as the original Sandwich loudspeaker, just like the 2024-released Sandwich 250 standmount and the Sandwich 150 bookshelf speakers.

As you might guess from the name, the Sandwich 100 is positioned as a smaller, more affordable alternative.

Classic acoustics, modern materials

Each Sandwich 100 is a two-way passive loudspeaker similar to the brand’s Sandwich 150, but smaller. The speakers stand roughly 13 inches tall, which is about 3 inches shorter than the Sandwich 150.

Each speaker employs the same 1.2-inch coated textile dome tweeter as the Sandwich 150 models, but features a slightly smaller mid-bass driver (which employs the brand’s signature Sandwich cone diaphragm, just like the original models).

Despite the smaller size, Leak claims that the Sandwich 100 has the same hallmark qualities (speed, articulation and transparency) of its other Sandwich loudspeakers. And they deliver “an engaging, natural sound across a wide range of music.”

The Sandwich 100 speakers are meant to be placed on shelves or stands (sold separately). The brand says that they are suited for small- to medium-sized spaces.

As you can tell, the Sandwich 100 bookshelf speakers have all the vintage appeal of their siblings. They pair a black front baffle with a premium walnut cabinet and come with a “faithfully classic” grille that can be removed if you prefer to show off the drivers.

Availability and pricing

The Leak Sandwich 100 bookshelf speakers are available now. A pair costs $795, making them almost exactly half as expensive as the Sandwich 150 bookshelf speakers, which go for $1,595.
