A British Hi-Fi Company Just Elevated Its Signature Audiophile Loudspeaker

It’s the brand’s “most creatively ambitious, technically advanced” loudspeaker.

Monitor Audio released the Hyphn, an elite floorstanding loudspeaker, back in 2023. At the time, the British hi-fi maker called it its “most creatively ambitious, technically advanced” loudspeaker ever.

A pair currently costs $99,000.

Since its release, the company has offered its Hyphn loudspeakers in three different finishes: satin white, matte black or matte green. Now that’s changing … by a lot.

Over 200 custom finishes

That’s right. The big news is that Monitor Audio’s flagship loudspeaker can now be customized in more than 200 colors that are available in gloss, matte or metallic finishes. Additionally, the M-Array bridge (located at the center) can be painted white/silver or black/gold.

According to the brand, these new custom loudspeakers give “owners the freedom to choose a finish that sits perfectly in any interior listening environment.”

Meant to be seen, heard

Aside from the new custom paint jobs, Monitor Audio hasn’t altered its flagship loudspeaker. The Hyphn is a passive floorstanding loudspeaker with an innovative three-way design that splits 11 drivers across its two pillars.

At the center of each speaker is the company’s patented M-Array, which features a single micro-pleated diaphragm tweeter flanked by six two-inch midrange drivers. Each pillar also houses a pair of inward-facing 8-inch bass drivers positioned in a force-canceling configuration.

Monitor audio claims the Hyphn is the result of “an intense collaboration between our designers and engineers, who set out to build the best loudspeaker anyone has ever heard.”

Price and availability

As mentioned, the standard edition of the Hyphn loudspeakers, which come in three finishes (satin white, matte black or matte green), goes for $99,000.

Naturally, the “Custom Finish Editions” cost more … ten grand more. That’s right, a pair will set you back $109,000.

Each of these Hyphn (Custom Finish Editions) will be made to order, hand-painted and assembled at the brand’s UK headquarters located in Rayleigh, Essex.
