A Legendary Hi-Fi Brand’s New Loudspeakers Are for True Audiophiles Only

They borrow driver technologies from the brand’s $750,000 flagship loudspeakers.

Earlier this month, Sonus faber teamed up with Lamborghini, the legendary Italian car manufacturer, to create a limited-edition version of its Il Cremonese Ex3me floorstanding loudspeakers. Only 50 pairs were made, each priced at $130,000.

Fast forward two weeks and the luxury Italian audio maker is back with a new pair of audiophile-grade floorstanding speakers that are, well, slightly more affordable.

Sonus faber Amati Supreme

Two tall, floor-standing speakers with a sleek, metallic bronze finish are shown against a dark brown background. Each speaker features a unique driver arrangement with black speaker cones and a silver central component in the midrange driver area. The speakers are mounted on black stands with pointed feet for stability. One speaker is positioned on a raised circular platform, while the other stands directly on the floor.

Trickle-down drivers

Sonus faber’s Amati Supreme is its newest pair of high-end floorstanding speakers. According to the brand, they blend “advanced engineering with Italian craftsmanship to achieve exceptional performance in a beautifully compact floor-standing silhouette.”

Most notably, Sonus faber integrated the Amati Supreme with the same advanced “Voice of Sonus faber” (VOS) driver array — comprised of a tweeter, super tweeter and Camelia midrange driver — that’s featured in its flagship Suprema loudspeakers, which go for around $750,000.

It features a unique driver arrangement: a small tweeter at the top, a midrange driver below it surrounded by a silver ring with a central black element marked "sf," and two larger black woofers beneath. The speaker stands on a black metal base with four pointed feet for stability. The background is dark with reddish-brown tones, complementing the speaker's color.Sonus faber

Saber faber says that “the integration of the ‘Voice of Sonus faber’ from Suprema ensures the speaker delivers reference-level acoustic performance that complements and elevates its elegant form.”

Joining this flagship driver array are twin massive 220mm woofers with a dual-driver motor system. In total, the Amati Supreme loudspeakers can handle a whopping 600 watts of power, so you’ll need a seriously high-end amplifier to drive them.

Advanced tech, Italian craftsmanship

On the rear panel of the loudspeakers is an innovative fine-tuning mechanism that allows listeners to adjust the mid-high and mid-bass output. That way, they can get the loudspeakers just right for the listening space they’re in.

According to the brand, the Amati Supreme loudspeakers deliver “the dynamic range and realism needed to capture both the power and intimacy of a live performance.”

Two tall, cylindrical objects with smooth, metallic surfaces are shown side by side against a black background. The object on the left has a gold finish, while the one on the right has a reddish-brown finish. Both have vertical black ridges along their edges.

Interestingly, on top of each loudspeaker is a transparent Y-shaped window that Sonus fabers says “invites the listener into the heart of its engineering, offering a glimpse of the exquisitely arranged mid-high crossover section.”

The brand is offering the Amati Supreme loudspeakers in two different matte metal finishes: Sabbia Oro (a warm gold) and Terra Rossa (an earthy red). Each of these finishes wraps around the entire cabinet — a first for the brand.
