We’ve recently named the Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster as our Editor’s Pick for Best Sports Car on Just Get This.
The Porsche Cayman — and its convertible counterpart, the Boxster — features aesthetic and engineering details that establish them as the affordable sports car standard. The car comes standard with a six-speed manual, and is also offered with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic called PDK (it stands for “Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe“).
The vehicles come with a choice of two engines. Base models use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, while the more expensive Boxster S and Cayman S use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 350 horsepower and up to 306 lb-ft of torque. The Cayman S has a top speed of 180 miles per hour and does 0-60 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds, which is plenty for the everyman.
