Tom Brady's mysterious new performance brand, the hyper-rare Fratello x Nomos watch and the latest lamp speaker from Ikea and Sonos top today's news.
It seems like collaboration is what makes the (gear) world go 'round, touching virtually every industry. Style, tech, home goods and even watches — there's no space that doesn't benefit from a particularly interesting partnership. Whether one party takes inspiration from another to shape a completely new product, or it's as simple as two people working together on a new brand (as we'll see with Tom Brady's new apparel line), it's clear collaboration continues to dominate the product-driven world we live in. For all the details on the news, announcements and releases we're excited to share, this is Today in Gear.

Inspired by early man's ingenuity and resilience, Vollebak's Ice AgeFleece fuses prehistoric know-how with touches of modern-day tech to make a jacket that's ready to perform in myriad conditions. From the patchwork pattern of synthetic and sheep's wool to the deep "hunter-gatherer" pouch pockets, it's the type of jacket that can handle a brief squall or a major snowstorm.
In a move that feels almost inevitable, Tom Brady has announced his entrance into the apparel space. Named "Brady" (naturally), the line promises "performance, on and off the field" and is designed in collaboration with Public School's Dao-Yi Chow.
For the second generation Symfonisk lamp, Ikea and Sonos punched up the design, offering the base separately from two types of lampshades — made from glass or textile in either black or white. The lamp-speaker hybrid is designed to cover an entire room with sound, and blend into your existing sound system, whether that's propped up by other Sonos speakers or Apple Airplay 2. Take a look at our review of the first generation Symfonisk on Youtube.
The watch fans at Fratello have teamed with NOMOS to create an exclusive edition of the Weltzeit watch. Dubbed "The Hague Edition", the watch features a panda-style dial, a black Horween leather strap and in-house DUW 5201 movement. Limited to just 25 pieces, this won't just tell world time at a glance, it's also sure to be one of the rarest watches you might actually be able to get your hands on at the same time.
The Rover Pack is a signature backpack in the Topo Designs arsenal, but the Rover Pack Tech builds upon that legacy with new features. Built from recycled 1000D nylon, this bag is tough on the outside but spacious on the inside, with expanding water bottle pockets (which can fit even a Nalgene!) with two sleeves — one internal and one external — that can hold most 15-inch laptops.
