Even though Porsche has waffled on its future electrification initiatives for a few months now, the automaker has already demonstrated strong success with some of its EVs.
For instance, the Macan Electric has posted a remarkable performance throughout this year, accounting for almost 60 percent of total model sales so far. As was the case with the Cayenne over 20 years ago, Porsche is capitalizing on an opportunity in the SUV segment.

Ever one to provide customers with more options, however, the automaker has just added another offering to the Macan Electric lineup. As a driver-focused car with a rearward weight bias, the model joins a decades-old tradition of other Porsches bearing the same special badge.
More dynamic Macan
It’s called the Macan Electric GTS, and it’s the latest in a long line of Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) cars dating back to the 904 Carrera of 1963. Porsche has previously built GTS versions of everything from the 928 and the 911 to the Taycan and the Cayenne, so there’s plenty of performance precedent for this spritely SUV.
