Even though Porsche has waffled on its future electrification initiatives for a few months now, the automaker has already demonstrated strong success with some of its EVs.

For instance, the Macan Electric has posted a remarkable performance throughout this year, accounting for almost 60 percent of total model sales so far. As was the case with the Cayenne over 20 years ago, Porsche is capitalizing on an opportunity in the SUV segment.

Ever one to provide customers with more options, however, the automaker has just added another offering to the Macan Electric lineup. As a driver-focused car with a rearward weight bias, the model joins a decades-old tradition of other Porsches bearing the same special badge.

More dynamic Macan

It’s called the Macan Electric GTS, and it’s the latest in a long line of Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) cars dating back to the 904 Carrera of 1963. Porsche has previously built GTS versions of everything from the 928 and the 911 to the Taycan and the Cayenne, so there’s plenty of performance precedent for this spritely SUV.

As part of the treatment, Porsche has given the EV the rear electric motor of the Macan Electric Turbo, which is the largest and most powerful option in the range. Accordingly, the GTS makes 509 horsepower as standard, although it can put down as much as 563 horsepower and 704 lb-ft of torque thanks to an Overboost function.

And that’s far from the extent of the upgrades. In addition to a trick all-wheel drive system with electric Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), Porsche has also fitted the Macan Electric GTS with its Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) as standard. To optimize traction and agility, the system utilizes an electronically controlled limited slip differential for the rear axle.

Moreover, to give the GTS “the lowest center of gravity of any model” in the Macan EV lineup, Porsche has reworked the active suspension management and fitted the car with spec-unique dampers and roll bars.

On the road, all of these changes amount to big results. According to Porsche, the Macan Electric GTS can do 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.0 seconds before hitting a top speed of 155 mph.

Sport-worthy style

In keeping with the Macan GTS’s sporty performance, Porsche is treating the SUV to some unique styling elements to set it apart from other models in the range.

So, along with painting the sides of the car in black accents (as is typical of GTS models), this means that Porsche will add extended rocker panels, a distinctive diffuser and some tinted headlights and taillights. What’s more, the Macan Electric GTS will introduce three new colors in Chalk, Carmine Red and Lugano Blue.

Inside, Porsche plans to further complement the experience with Race-Tex upholstery, color-matched GTS Interior Package options and various other owner-centric customization features.

Rounded out by novelties like Porsche Digital Key, fresh Park Assist functions, an AI-assisted Voice Pilot and enhanced in-car gaming offerings, it’s a Macan that aims to go fast while delivering its passengers in modern style and comfort — just as a GTS should.

Pricing and availability

Per Porsche, the 2026 Macan GTS can be ordered immediately. Priced starting from $103,000, the first examples are expected to arrive at dealers beginning in Spring 2026.
