That’s why — to prepare for the impending Snow-pocolypse, or Polar Vortex, or whatever we decide to call it this year — you should peruse some of these incredibly affordable snowmobiles that are up for the punishment.
1991 Polaris Indy Lite GT 340
What we like: Polaris reinvented entry-level sleds with the Indy Lite. As a “fully loaded” machine, at the time, it undercut the more expensive models by a considerable margin, but even today it’s super simple and fun.
From the seller: Nice sled for hauling the fish house to the lake, pulling a wood trailer, or trail riding. At $1,199, this is a great machine.

What we like: Even a halfway decent sled like this Yamaha V-Max still has a couple hundred more miles under it belt. Perfect for hammering through trails without having to worry about “scuffing it up a bit.”
From the seller: 1996 Yamaha V-Max 600 XT is in average shape and runs out good. The snowmobile is equipped with spare belt, GYT Yamaha exhaust and more.

2005 Ski-Doo 500 SS
What we like: Such low miles on such a well-kept 11-year-old sled make it a very tempting purchase indeed.
From the seller: I’m the original owner and the sled has always been garage kept. This sled has the new upgraded pilot skis and wear bars that are much better for handling. This is a great sled for all ages.
