Toyota has just given its TRD Pro off-road lineup a host of thorough updates to better compete in the growing segment of factory-fresh off-roaders. The new lineup encompasses the Tundra, 4Runner and Tacoma. Toyota bestowed all of them with an upgraded suspension setup, namely new Fox Racing shocks and an additional lift of the suspension at the front of each truck to facilitate cruising through rough terrain.
But it’s the new Tacoma TRD Pro that has us really excited. In addition to its suspension upgrades, it gets a snorkel as standard equipment from the factory. In addition to just looking hardcore, the snorkel allows the engine to grab air from above the truck which helps keep dust and dirt that gathers around the wheel wells from potentially getting into the air filter.
The new updates to the Tacoma TRD Pro have come at a good time. Chevy’s Colorado ZR2 has been out for some time now, and the Ranger Raptor recently broke cover (and will hopefully make its way to the US soon). The small, off-road pickup wars are heating up, and we couldn’t be more excited.
