The act of hitting the open road can be intoxicating, whether you live for it already or you’re still manifesting a life of adventure, self-discovery and escape from routine.

Airstream has long been synonymous with freedom and connection through travel, but its trailers haven’t always been accessible from a size or price standpoint.

The World Traveler 22RB may be Airstream’s most accessible model yet.

The World Traveler 22RB Travel Trailer may just change that, opening the road to more people than ever before.

Small footprint, big appeal

The aerodynamic World Traveler 22RB offers a masterclass in combining luxury and functionality into one maneuverable model, which Airstream says is the lightest model in its category.

The World Traveler is built on the same chassis as Airstream’s World Traveler global model sold in Europe and Asia, while its narrower and more lightweight construction make it the ideal entry-level option for fans of the brand.

The 3,700-pound base weight, 7.5-foot width and 22-foot length come together to create one highly towable trailer that is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, including crossovers, pickups and SUVs.

(Even fully loaded with water, gear and supplies, the new trailer’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is rated to 4,500 pounds, making it easy for most vehicles to tow.)

Anyone worrying that the smaller footprint means less luxury, fear not; just because Airstream’s newest model is slim and sleek doesn’t mean it skimps on interior amenities.

Scandi style

The interior is a minimalist’s dream, featuring all of Airstream’s standard amenities wrapped in a Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic that is bright, light and more spacious than one might suspect.

The galley kitchen comes standard with a 3.1 cubic foot refrigerator with freezer; an optional 1.0 cubic foot under-bench dinette drawer refrigerator adds more storage.

The white aluminum interior walls paired with light laminate cabinetry make the trailer feel spacious, despite its smaller footprint.

The unique V-Shaped primary sleeping area maximizes space, and the dinette converts to either a sofa or bed for more flexibility.

The lightweight dual-pane acrylic windows let in tons of light while boosting efficiency.

They open at an angle, increasing air flow in the trailer, and also offer a versatile integrated blackout blinds and screens feature.

Campers can pull down the screen to allow airflow, pull up the blind for privacy, or separate both to open the window completely.

This intuitive feature is not available anywhere else in Airstream’s travel trailer line, just one more selling point for this (relatively) small wonder.

Availability and pricing

The World Traveler 22RB is available now via Airstream’s nationwide dealer network, starting at $68,300.
