Embrace the Outdoors and Buy This Outstanding Vintage BMW Motorcycle

This 1990 BMW R100GS could be your ticket to ride.

Adventure, adventure, adventure. It may seem like we at Gear Patrol are often trying to push you further away from home with all our camping tools, mobile devices and motorcycle riding accessories. Well, we kind of are. Go outside; it’s great. And this 1990 BMW R100GS, currently listed on Bring a Trailer, could help you break out of your comfort zone and see what this great wide world has to offer.

These BMW adventure bikes have earned their status as cool machines by being among the toughest things to roll on two wheels. This rare, low-mileage 1990 BMW R100GS is cleaner than a hospital room, with only 26,552 miles. (These boxer-twin motors are just starting to break in around the 50,000-mile mark; there’s a ton of life left here.) The factory Marrakech Red is still shining beautifully, marked only with the original decals. The 980cc boxer motor has been gone over meticulously, serving up  a surface nearly as clean as its paint job.

The owner boasts the bike hs had a full top-end reseal including, head gaskets, pushrod tube seals, cylinder o-rings, and an inspection of the valvetrain. He went on to rebuild the Bing carbs, adjusted the valves and cleaned and vapor-blasted the driveline. In an era of heavy modding, this owner has shown commendable restraint by maintaining a tasteful and largely original bike.

As of this writing, the bidding is at $3,000, with five days remaining. So close your computer, gear up, and head out. But, y’know, bid first.
